Frankenstein (Death Race 2000)

First appearance: Death Race 2000 (1975)

I've always found this movie entertaining. Its like the 70s version of Arnold Schwartzenegger classic The Running Man only slightly less silly. Even though Frankenstein is the coolest looking racer, I think Joe Viturbo (Sylvester Stallone) is more fun. Why they haven't made a videogame that follows the rules of this movie is beyond me. Also why did they decide to make the remake less awesome?

Greedo

First appearance: Star Wars (1977)

At least that's what it shows in the movie. If you are remembering something different happening it might be a problem with your brain or something.

Him, Madman

First Appearance: I, Madman (1989)

A woman who wants to be an actress works in a used book store, dates a stereotypical detective and really gets into the pulp horror novels she reads gets menaced by a mutilated maniacal mutilator straight out of the book she's currently reading. Is he real? Is she actually killing off all the annoying people in her life? Is it the insane author of the novels who died in the 50s? Who cares! Surprisingly good flick. I also just found out that it was made by the same guy who made one of my favorite movies, THE GATE. It would make a half decent double feature with In the Mouth of Madness.
The movie was originally going to be called HARDCOVER, good thing it wasn't. I never would have bothered trying to find Hardcover.

Ashley J. Williams

First appearance: The Evil Dead (1981)

Five friends have a lousy time at a cabin in the woods. Miserable time can be blamed on a book (The Evil Dead). The next night something horrible takes over our hero (Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn) making even more people miserable. In the end everything turns out OK when Ash gets sucked back in time by a giant vortex and is revealed to be the Chosen One.

The geek in me is always annoyed by "fans" who don't seem to know there's a difference between Evil Ash and Bad Ash. Evil ash is the guy Ash turns into after the evil got into his hand. Bad Ash is what happened when one of the mini-Ashes got inside Ash and grew up, eventually getting killed and then coming back from the grave. Evil Ash is possessed Ash, Bad Ash is a magical evil clone. Note Evil Ash's missing hand and the fact Bad Ash has two hands. Yeah I know "Nerd".

Matt Cordell

First Appearance: Maniac Cop (1988)

Another weird slasher flick from the '80s.  I've only ever managed to watch the first Maniac Cop flick. It was about a cop who goes around killing people. The police arrest the wrong guy, who is also a cop, who then spends the rest of the movie trying to prove his innocence. Its got Tom Atkins, Bruce Campbell and Robert Z'Dar in it, is directed by the guy who made Maniac, and written by the guy who wrote It's Alive! That's all I really know about it. Maybe one day I'll get around to seeing the sequels.

Principal Gerald Strickland

First Appearance: Back to the Future (1985)

This guy has to be some kind of monster, doesn't he? He seems so single minded in terms of what he finds acceptable you could just see him snapping and cleaning up all the "Slackers" he sees around him. Not to mention the guy doesn't age between the years 1955 and 1985! Back to the Future is the second best time travel movie series so I wanted to pay some kind of tribute to it. (not to mention my sister requested I draw Strickland)
Now back to work slacker.

They Live 2011?

I'm not trying to make any kind of statement with this so don't infer anything. Its just an obvious gag I'm surprised I haven't seen anywhere yet, especially with the number of hipsters and young folks involved in the Occupy movements.

Protector 101

First appearance: Killbots / Chopping Mall (1986)

Some kids decide to do that standard thing kids liked to do in the 1980s, stay behind after work and have a make-out party in the mall after hours. Unfortunately for them this was the day when the mall got its new security team, partying teens' mortal enemy: Robots! Mayhem ensues.
Leigh reminded me how much I liked this movie and suggested I draw one of the "Killbots." I chose Number Two because I thought he gave the best performance, you could really believe he was a just security guard trying to do the best job he could.

Oh,if you've got a favorite monster or b-movie hero that you'd like to see me draw up for this collection let me know, there's still tons of monsters I haven't gotten around to yet.

TOMORROW

You'll no longer have to have a boring torso tomorrow.

Mutant

First appearance: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera (2001)

One of my favorite movies of all time. Its the tale of an evil skeleton and a scientist who studies rocks.

Also over at Doo Wacka Doodles there's a tribute to this fantastic movie featuring a bunch of fantastic art. I think you should go check it out. You will be sterilised with fear!

Creeping Flesh

First Appearance: The Creeping Flesh (1973)

So there's this Victorian scientist (Peter Cushing) who's trying to find the origin of the species man, he finds a big weird skeleton in New Guinea which he naturally brings back to his lab in England to study. While washing the skeleton he notices that putting water on it makes it grow flesh, of course. He decides to look up some  of the legends of New Guinea and obviously discovers that the skeleton is that of some super evil god monster who will destroy the world when it gets wet. Only that wasn't supposed to happen for another 3,000 years when the natives of New Guinea would have sufficient technology to fight it.
This leads the scientist to the assumption that blood from this monster is the source of evil, which means evil is a disease which can be inoculated against if you had the proper serum. So he makes the anti-evil serum and then, since his wife (who was a bit loose) went crazy and he's afraid the same thing will happen to his daughter, he injects the untested serum on his daughter. As you probably guessed this wasn't the best idea the doctor had.  Oh and the scientist's got a jerky step brother (Christopher Lee) who runs the sanitarium the scientist's wife was incarcerated in and is entering the same science competition the scientist entered. Pretty good atmospheric horror flick if you're into those Hammer style horror movies.
