First appearance: The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954, although he made an appearance on the Collgate Comedy Hour with Abbott and Costello before the release of the movie)
A group of scientists head down the Amazon river looking for fossils only to be attacked by a Fish-man who's got designs on the lovely Kay Lawrence (Julie Adams). Will the scientist find what they're looking for? What exactly does a walking fish want with a bathing beauty? Find out in 3-D!
Sadly I've never seen it in 3-D.
The Creature is probably my favorite of the Universal Monsters, I really enjoy all three of his films. I'd really like to see the ones shot in 3-D in 3-D one day. Fortunately Universal released Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3-D on Blu-ray. Unfortunately I don't have a 3–D capable TV.
So close yet so far.
Oh, well, here's the trailer:
He's my favorite too. I think it started because it was the first one I saw as a kid and it's more sci-fi than "gothic" horror like the previous ones.
ReplyDeleteI can still picture sitting on the floor at my grandma's house on a summer night with my cousin, lights out and cheap-o 3D red/blue glasses on eating popcorn while watching this.
